Back to school

It's Official! Another school year has begun. We now have a 3rd grader(who also gets to start taking those wonderful state mandated tests) and a 1st grader. The grades may have changed but I'm afraid that is the only thing that has. This first school morning left off exactly where last year's mornings ended. Ellie was super anxious. She was up earlier than needed even though she was up half the night. She was so worried about being late that she spouted off the time every 5 minutes and barely let me take any pictures, or even get dressed. I know what your thinking...this is perfectly normal for the first day of school. I would, of course, agree with you if she hadn't acted this way every day last year. I think some anti-anxiety medication might be in her future. Carter, however, could hardly get out of bed despite going to bed at 7:30pm. He took his time eating which aggravated Ellie to no end, and even went so far as to say his "belly hurt". Oh "Serenity Now"!

As I drove to pick up the kids from school, I wondered that since the mornings hadn't changed then maybe our afternoons would stay the same as well. I'm happy to say they are. I picked up my smiling kids from their first day of school and listened to their cheerful chatter all the way home. Ahhh...it was like summer never was.

I'm so glad to find you guys. You're on my blog list now so I'll check in when I can. School starts on Tuesday for us. The kids are looking forward to it - but I'm ready for summer to start over again. You have such a great family! You guys do things so well - I wish I could be more like you :)
